This expedition package is ex-Longyearbyen, Norway

Dates: April 9 - 13, 2014 (tentative dates)*

Package includes: Flights to the North Pole and 2 nights at the heated basecamp with a guide. Two nights at the Spitsbergen Hotel in Longyearbyen, Norway. Additional lodging and meals in Longyearbyen are not included but can be arranged at a separate cost. Winning bidders are required to arrive in Longyearbyen at least one full day prior to the pre-expedition briefing.

Itinerary:
Pre-expedition: Arrival in Longyearbyen, Norway. Guests will be received at the airport by a representative from PolarExplorers and escorted to their hotel. Schedule a time for the PolarExplorers guide to check expedition equipment.

Day 1: Free to explore Longyearbyen in the first half. A late afternoon pre-flight briefing provides information about Barneo Ice Camp, the flight to the North Pole, and a tentative departure time for the following day.
A reception after the briefing provides an opportunity to get to know the other people in the team.

Day 2 and 3: Transfer from hotel to airport. Charter flight from Longyearbeyn to Barneo Ice Camp, and two nights at Barneo. Flight times will depend on weather conditions at Barneo Ice Camp. Flight time is approximately 2.5 hours.

Barneo Ice Camp is the only one of its kind in the world, and lies near the North Pole, though its exact location varies daily as it drifts with the ice. The camp consists of a heated recreational/dining tent, heated sleeping tents (with 10-12 sleeping cots per tent), and rest rooms. Depending on timing and weather conditions the helicopter flight to the North Pole may happen on the day of arrival, or on the following days. The duration of the helicopter flight to the North Pole is approximately 20-45 minutes over the frozen pack ice of the Polar Sea.

Upon landing at the North Pole guests will be standing at the top of the world where everything lies south of one's location followed by a group photo session. The amount of time spent at the North Pole is dependent upon the weather but one may expect anywhere from 45 minutes to two hours.

After returning to base camp guests may mingle with others from the expedition in the dining tent, or participate in one of the special activities organized by the guide.

Day 4: Departure from base camp to Longyearbyen. The exact timing of the flight depends on weather conditions, and various logistics.

Arrival in Longyearbyen, marks the official end of the expedition.
