A Kilim is a flat woven rug without any pile, this Soumak (Central Asian) piece by the Turkman people is a complete piece with the ends intact. Almost monochromatic using a deep maroon for the main body with the small geometric motifs picked up in red and white. It is very sparse in its decoration, using only a light trellis interspersed with tiny lozenges and finished off with horizontal bands at both the ends.
