Kazak rugs are known for their geometrical designs, and contain large scaled patterns, several medallions, and bright contrasting colors.
This Eagle motif is set in a deep red field, the central medallion is in contrastings shades of red and blue highlighted by white. The origin of the design and its association with the eagl is mired is complex history. The border carries forward the same color schema and is comprised of continuous lozenges. Rugs woven in the south of the Caucasus, (the region stretching between the Caspian and Black Sea) are identified as Kazak rugs.
