This magnificent carpet from the town of Laver north east of Kerman, depicts what is identified as a Guldasta- or the vase of flowers which is a potent symbol of prosperity and plenitude in nature.
The carpet literally depicts a beautiful vase from which emerge arabesques of vines and flowers on which are perched birds.This central motif is further enmeshed in meandering of vines, rosettes, palmette and birds, the corner niches echo the flora and fauna in an arabesque. Together they also embody the concept of a Garden of Paradise.
Carpets from Laver Kerman are highly regarded; for the superior quality of wool used for weaving, the intricacies of design and the cohesiveness of design. This carpet is represents the best of carpets from Laver Kerman.
The predominant colors are beige of the background with the flora and fauna woven in shades of blue and pink.The border are again in blue and pink but with more denser forms contrasting with the lightness of the central design.
