Joseph Carl Klinkosch was one of the greatest silversmiths of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in the 19th century. He worked under the Austro-Hungarian Emperor Franz Josef I, and held the title of Imperial Warrant in his court. Klinkosch's silverware is marked by a finesse and craftsmanship that makes Klinkosch silverware highly coveted among collectors today. Each of the pieces in the present lot bears the Diana Head mark enclosed in a hexagon with a '2' inscribed to its left indicating the purity of silver as 90 per cent (900/1000).
