Born in 1978 in Jhelum, Pakistan, Hasnat Mehmood is a visual artist who received his BFA in Miniature Painting from National College of Arts in Lahore. Trained as a traditional miniature painter, he uses his knowledge of the art form to address contemporary issues.

Some of Mehmood’s solo shows include ‘I Love Miniature’ at Aicon Gallery, New York; ‘Buy One Get One’ at Rohtas gallery in Lahore; and ‘Original Image May Vary’ at Chawkandi... His group shows include ‘Extra Ordinary’, ‘37 Do It Yourself Art Ideas for Free’ at Canvas gallery in Karachi; ‘Here and Now’, a group show curated by Quddus Mirza at Lahore Art gallery in Lahore; ‘Icons/Pakistan Zinda Baad’, a two-person show at Canvas gallery in Karachi; ‘Playing with a Loaded Gun: Apexart’ in New York; ‘Around Miniature’ at Canvas Gallery, Karachi; ‘Karkhana: A Contemporary Collaboration’, curated by Hammad Nasar at Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, CT, USA; ‘Beyond The Page: Contemporary Art from Pakistan’, a group show at Asia House and Manchester Art Gallery, UK; and ‘Lahore Lovelies’ with Talha Rathor at Aicon Gallery in London.

Mehmood’s works are in the collections of the British Museum, London; Fukuoka Museum of Asian Arts, Japan; and the American Consulate in Karachi.
