    Casino Royale is the first novel written by Ian Fleming featuring the 00 agent Commander James Bond, completed in March 1952, published in 1953 and is essential to any James Bond collection. This is the 1965 reprint edition. Only 4,500 copies were printed on the first print run - the smallest number of first print run copies of any James Bond novel. Ian Fleming was 43 when he wrote this novel. He sent it to his friend, the poet William Plomer, who in turn recommended it to Jonathan Cape, publishers. And the rest is history, a British cultural hero was born.
