Vlaminck was considered one of the leading members of the Fauve group but after being so struck by Cézanne's two major exhibitions of 1907 at the Salon d'Automne and the Galerie Bernheim-Jeune, he gradually abandoned the extremely bright colors of Fauvism for the strong blues and greens that inspired him in Cézanne's work.
