The matted locks flowing down the crown and the delicately engraved third eye leave no doubt about the subject of this sculpture. The lower hair locks curl out symmetrically above the forehead like eddies of swirling water. The facial expression is graceful and reassuring. The shape of the eyes, expression and lips reveal 9th century traits.
