Yakshas are semi-divine nature spirits and are often represented as guardian deities associated with fertility, abundance and protection. This surviving frieze shows features typical of the Shunga Dynasty. The anklets are large and fine lower vestment drapes the feet artistically. Small flowers elegantly decorate the borders. There are two examples of comparable, one in the Indian Museum, Kolkata and another in Allahabad Museum, Prayagraj. The Chandraketugarh Museum also houses several comparable examples.
