Avalokiteshvara is the earthly form of Buddha Amitabha. He guards the world in the interim period between the death of the great, Gautama Buddha and the coming of the future Buddha, Maitreya. He is a compassionate Bodhisattva. This Buddha has an aureole or a halo of radiant light framing his head, representing a sacred being. He is in a long flowing robe with detachable halo.
