A Samovar or European hot water fountain. Traditionally Samovars were an integral part of Russian homes, used to dispense hot tea or water.
This beautiful samovar comprises two parts - a kettle with a dispenser, and a stand that has been mounted on a plate. The tap is in the form of a dolphin and a woman with her skirt billowing is positioned behind the tap making it very risqué; the lid is also topped by a miniature figurine of a dancing woman. The base has intricate patterns and has three clawed feet as its supports.
The hallmark and makers mark are heavily worn and not distinct.
