Indian Temple

- - Although Raza`s canvases from the late 1950`s display the technical skills he learnt at the Ecole Paris, they were heavily influenced by images and colors remembered from his childhood in India. In Indian Temple, Raza uses the fragments of these memories to construct an entire landscape in the heavy oil impasto that marked his works during this period. The church steeple is replaced by the elaborate roof of a Hindu temple, and the deep blue skies
