Portrait of an old man - II

- - In his drawings, there are no flippant gestures, no unfinished passages which might have carried innuendos. There are no suggestive passages, no probabilities. He states all that he intended to state. The drawings are complete within themselves and are at once the strength and shortcoming of his art. Whatever else may be said about them, there can be no doubt about their intentions and certainly there is not the slightest hint of any pretention.
