- - Nasreen Mohamedi was one of the few Indian artists working in the mid-20th century whose visual language was completely divorced from the figurative. The celebrated minimalist drew inspiration from a number of Western and Eastern sources including European Modernists, East Asian philosophy, Mughal architecture and the landscape of the deserts of the Arabian Peninsula.
