This miniature depicts an ascetic, perhaps Mir Sayyid Ali, seated on a tiger skin being consulted by three women. In the background are visible European looking galleons sailing on the river Ganges.

The inscription bears the date 1824-1825 and says that the holy man is likened to Mir Sayyid 'Ali. In the lower border the nasta'liq inscription reads: Ibn Mir Sayyid Muhammad HasanI al-Husaini al-Qadari. The main figure belongs to Qadiriyah order, a strict Sufi order founded by Sayyid 'Abdul- Qadfir Gilani (1077-1166).
