20th century
Himachal Pradesh

Also known as 'daranti' or sickle earrings, these ornaments were traditionally worn by men of high caste, who looked after the village deities and temples. Typically worn directly through the earlobe, this pair of ear pendants has been modified by adding a simple hook from which each can be suspended.
