The Kutia Kond of Orissa revere every animal and bird in their surroundings, as the balance between man and nature is very important to their way of life. The simplicity with which this sculpture has been executed reminds one of the direct existential experiences these simple and primitive people have. The present lot, a sculpture of a bird, has been created in two separate pieces using the 'lost wax' or cire perdue method of casting.
