An unusual black ground forms the perfect foil this shawl that is probably woven in the villages of Kashmir for personal use rather than the master craftsman. Here the embroidery is not as fine but what it lacks in terms of finesse it more than makes up for in its use of color and vibrancy of design. The entire field is has tiny flowers at equally spaced intervals in blue, brown and cream. This shawl shows the rustic character of embroidery practices of Kashmir.
