Shiraz carpets were knotted by nomads living in Fars in southwest of Iran, with the city of Shiraz as the capital province. The pattern in the carpet is typical for nomads with motifs of simple geometric figures and often with one or more rhombs in the center. The colors used in the field are predominantly red like in this carpet with stylised animal and flower motifs and the central medallions in deep blue.
