Based on a red field this is a typical tribal carpet from Kashgar in East Turkestan in Central Asia.
The field comprises of four large flowers with six petals in geometric stylization in alternating blue and green hues, with a nice abrash . The inner field which is in a striking red is framed by triangular borders woven in pale colour along the verticals.
The most striking feature of this carpet is the signature that appears at the centre left, this could either referencing the weaver for the patron.
