Quick Zoom

A magnificent borla or Indian forehead ornament that combines traditional and modern aesthetics. The key element of this headpiece is the borla that is composed of a circular large rose-cut diamond surrounded by pear-shaped rose-cut diamonds and an outer surround of pearls in a flower-head design. The top portion of the borla features polychrome enamel depicting poppy flowers, birds and foliage against a light blue ground; and is connected to a strand of pearls from an enamelled bail on the top. Two strands of pearls are attached to the bottom of the borla and continue on either side, and are meant to sit along the hairline of the forehead as a substitute to the traditional gold mathapatti. The lower pearl strand suspends diamond briolettes, gently graduating in size towards both ends, lending the headpiece a modern touch. All the pearl strands terminate with silk cords that are provided for securing this stunning head ornament.
