Gauri is an avatar of Uma or Parvati, the consort of Shiva. She stands on a lotus and holds a lotus blossom in each of her upper right hands, and a kundika or water pitcher in her lower left hand. Her hair is styled in a chignon. She wears an ascetic's belt around her waist and is clad in an ankle-length garment. The folds of her garment are finely delineated.
