The Gondwana Art Project is an initiative of the Craft and Community Development Foundation (CCDF) that supports and strengthens India’s indigenous art traditions from the Gondwana region, including Gond, Bhil, Warli, Baiga, Sohrai, and Khovar practices. Rooted in tribal heritage, these art forms reflect the deep relationship between communities and nature, expressing stories of daily life, rituals, beliefs, and the environment through distinct visual languages. Contemporary tribal artists continue to evolve these traditions using new mediums such as acrylics and canvas, keeping them relevant in modern contexts. Through training, mentorship, and curated platforms, CCDF supports artists to refine their skills, preserve traditional knowledge, and expand their practice. The Gondwana Art Project has also presented major exhibitions at prominent venues and showcased works at art fairs, museums, biennales and triennales.
