Founded in 2000, SACSS is a community-based nonprofit serving over 300,000 underserved New Yorkers annually, with a mission to empower South Asian and other immigrant communities through access to healthcare, food security, education, workforce development, and civic engagement. Over the past two decades, it has become a vital institution, pioneering initiatives such as New York City’s first South Asian food pantry and expanding its reach through a dedicated community centre in Queens.

Sundaram Tagore is an art historian, gallerist, and filmmaker known for championing cross-cultural dialogue in art. Through his gallery programme and work with leading institutions such as The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum of Modern Art, and the National Gallery of Modern Art, Delhi, he has promoted a global, inclusive vision of contemporary art, foregrounding artists whose practices bridge Eastern and Western traditions. This donation reflects his enduring commitment to cultural exchange and community engagement.
