Created using the 'lost wax' or cire perdue method of casting by professional metal casters known as 'ghadvas', this elaborate diorama-like tableau depicts the annual festival dedicated to Indra, God of rain. This festival takes place before the sowing season, and during its course, offerings are made to Indra to ensure a bountiful crop. Here, two figures of the God are surrounded by tribes people busy with various tasks, including the erection of traditional totem poles, and playing music, an integral part of tribal life.
