Born in 1941, Vimla Dutt is an artist from the village of Ranti in the Madhubani district of Bihar, who specializes in the Kayastha form of line painting. Dutt learnt this art from her mother and elder sister, who would decorate the house with it during weddings and festivals, and her subjects are usually drawn from mythology. Practicing for over fifty years, Dutt has participated in several international exhibitions and residencies, including those organized by Mithila Museum in Japan. She won a State Award from the Government of Bihar in 2010-11.
