This carpet could have been woven in any city from North India during the 1930's, for carpet weaving was practised extensively and most of them would replicate designs from Persia making identification of regions difficult.It was Akbar's grandson Shah Jehan who ruled during the 17th century that the art of carpet weaving was firmly established in the Indian sub-continent.
Large and meticulous floral themes populate the deep blue central field of carpet. The repeat pattern is set in four quadrants.The border which is in a contrasting hue of red has palmette of floral forms. The red and blue are the most typical colors that were found in carpets from Persia.
