The rugs from Shiraz draw their designs from multiple sources and have traces of Qashgai, Afshar, Lori and Bhaktiari amongst others.Since the weavers lead a settled life they use a fixed loom and therefore can produce rugs that are of greater dimensions, also their designs though drawing from a tribal heritage have elements of city rug designs. Also a key aspect to bear in mind is that these rugs were woven for the purpose of sale and use.
This rug has 2 vertical columns of diamond shapes in varying sizes, the negative space in the center is in deep indigo whilst the ones along the edges is offset by tan.The entire rug consists of floral, boteh and bird motifs.
