Senneh lies in Western Persia in the province of Kurdistan, and Senneh is also the dialect spoken by the people.Senneh rugs are distinctive from other rugs from Persia in that they are woven using tightly spun fine wool and are very silky to touch, however the verso is very rough.
The rug is woven using the Herati motif, but the diamond shaped medallion in the central field creates a dramatic effect. The carpet is predominantly woven in blue and red, but the cream colored border of the offsets the design and form beautifully.
