PROVENANCE
From an Important Private Collection, Mumbai
This pink sandstone frieze shows a chauri-bearer standing to the left in a tribhanga pose and a Yali or mythical lion to the right. The piece would evidently have been part of an architectural column. The simple ornaments and features point to the earlier phase of the medieval era.
