This is a wall-mounted work
It is believed that prior to becoming a full-bodied bull, Nandi had a human torso. He would play the mridangam while Shiva performed the Anandatandava. The mridangam is called the Deva Vaadyam or the instrument of the gods. This work is a large chariot frieze.
