Uma-Maheshwara shows Parvati and Shiva seated together as a couple, an iconography seen in the earlier phase of the Pala School. This depiction of Hindu deities is rare, considering the majority of Pala bronzes are Buddhist in theme. Parvati has been placed tilted inwards with the faces of both subjects positioned as though they are exchanging glances and are lost in each other’s presence. Shiva adoringly holds up her chin with his index finger. The soft, smoothly weathered texture and patination indicate that it had once been excavated.
