Dr. James H. Cousins (1873-1956) was an Irish-Indian writer, playwright, actor, critic, editor, teacher and poet who specialized in Indian art and culture. He was particularly interested in the art of Punjab and the Mughal Empire, and he wrote extensively on these subjects. He served as the Principal of Khalsa College in Amritsar and was also associated with the University of the Punjab in Lahore.

Chughtai's Paintings is a book that focuses on the work of the renowned Pakistani artist Abdur Rahman Chughtai (1897-1975). Chughtai was known for his unique style that combined traditional Indian and Islamic art with modernist elements. The book is said to have been published by the Jahangir Book Club in Lahore, although the exact date of publication is not known. However, given that Dr. Cousins passed away in 1956, it is likely that the book was published sometime in the 1940s or 1950s.

The book is considered an important reference for those interested in the art of Chughtai and the cultural heritage of the region. It includes a number of color reproductions of Chughtai's paintings, as well as an introduction and commentary by Dr. Cousins.
