This handwoven Caucasian carpet has its origin in the Karabagh (Black Garden) region between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Also known as Qasim Ushaq, the design of this carpet is derived from the floral and dragon carpets of the Caucasus region and the medallion carpets of Anatolia. The carpet is framed by a beautiful single border containing a scrolling vine and has a diamond-shaped medallion in the centre that is flanked by various representations of flowers and mythical animals.
