She attended the Winchester School of Art and the Chelsea School of Art before pursuing her postgraduate degree in Visual Islamic and Traditional Art from the Royal College of Art in London.

Born in Busembatia, Uganda, Ahmed has lived in the UK, US and Iran. She attended the Winchester School of Art and the Chelsea School of Art before pursuing her postgraduate degree in Visual Islamic and Traditional Art from the Royal College of Art in London.

Ahmed’s works are marked by their distinct use of geometric forms. Rooted in Islamic art and architecture, these forms and their rendition allude to her own memory and understanding of philosophical and religious practices. Being an activist and educator, Ahmed’s works are also inspired by the concepts of human rights and coalition-building.

Ahmed has worked as a board member for the Muslim Women’s Institute of Research and Development in New York in the past, and currently works as an advisory board member for Women’s Voices Now. She lives and works in New Jersey.
