Acquired directly from the artist in Kolkata, circa 1944 - 1946, by a member of a troupe of actors assigned by ENSA (Entertainments National Service Association). The actors travelled extensively throughout India, Ceylon and Burma during this time, performing plays for the British troops stationed there
