PROVENANCE
The Tandan Collection

Ragamala paintings frequently depict maidens representing raginis. Malasri Ragini is the wife of Bhairava raga. The two adorned maidens with halos represent the ragini, and are seen in a glade, deep in conversation. The artist adds depth to the landscape by depicting a stream in the foreground and a lake toward the horizon. The variations of green hues in the field and vegetation create a lush landscape.
