The Persian word for "enclosed space" was 'Pairi-daeza,' a term that was interpreted to describe the 'Garden of Eden' or ' Paradise on Earth'.
The gardens in heaven are depicted in the Islamic texts as the desert man's idyllic resort: lush, green and romantic, with rivers of honey and milk and gushing water springs.
A place of transcendental beauty, purity and abundance, emphasis being on leisure and relaxation, away from the constraints and tensions of the material world.
