TRIBAL AFSHAR-SOUTH WEST PERSIA

Circa 1920s
Approx. 6ft x 4ft 8in (182.8 x 146.3 cms)
Vegetable dyes, madder and indigo, wool pile on wool foundation.

This carpet woven in Afshar South west of Iran is an example of the striking use of color and simplicity of geometric patterns. The midnight blue central medallion has angular geometric motifs. The lighter colored paisley boteh around the border act as the unifying element. This shows the skill with which the tribal weaver would manipulate a limited repertoire of form and color.

Please note that there will be import restrictions on this Lot in the USA, UK, and Brazil. Potential buyers are advised to check import regulations to their country prior to making a bid decision.
