A PANJSHIR EMERALD AND DIAMOND RING

Centering on an octagonal step-cut emerald, weighing 5.03 carats, with trillion diamonds on either side, weighing a total of approximately 2.50 carats, mounted in 18 K white gold


With certificate 8002718-1-7360-I dated 8 September 2008 from the Gemmological Institute of India stating that the faceted gemstone is a natural emerald weighing 5.030 carats, originating from Panjshir

The beautiful mountains of Afghanistan have yielded precious gems from time immemorial. Turquoise, lapiz lazuli and ruby have been mentioned by ancient travellers and traded along the silk road through the Hindu Kush mountains. In the 1970s emeralds were discovered in the Panjshir Valley. Chemically comparable to emeralds from the Colombian mines, Panjshir gems are large and light in colour.
