Urmila Devi is a Mithila artist from Jitwarpur village in Madhubani district. Devi has exhibited her works in both national and international platforms and is most noted for mastering the Godna painting – a tattooing art tradition prevalent among the indigenous communities of northern and central India that employs geometric, floral and symmetrical designs.
