Rama Devi is a Madhubani artist hailing from Madhubani in Bihar. Devi’s practice of the artform employs the Godna painting tradition, which is an age-old tattoo art tradition that is relevant in communities indigenous to Northern and Central India. Daughter of the nationally-recognised artist Chano Devi, Rama draws inspiration from traditional Madhubani tales for her art, with trees, animals, and birds acting as recurring subjects there.
