One of the masters of contemporary Gond art, Ram Singh Urveti is most noted for his significant contribution to popularising the art form despite having no formal education in art. His first attempt at painting on canvas led to unsuccessful results - the colours were haphazard and spread everywhere. Undeterred, he trained under Jangarh Singh Shyam, a renowned Gond artist, and honed his artistic skills.
