Derry Moore, was born in 1937 and inherited the title of Earl of Drogheda from his father, Charles Moore, 11th Earl of Drogheda
Moore was primarily influenced by his studies with Oskar Kokoshka and subsequently Bill Brandt. He began his professional career in 1973, with a commission from the American magazine Architectural Digest. He has photographed Queen Elizabeth II, the late Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, Indira Gandhi, Ronald Reagan, David Bowie, Iman and Helena Bonham Carter, as well as many other personalities.
His work appears in such magazines as Town & Country, Vogue, Architectural Digest, Men’s Vogue, Nest and Country Life. He has published over a dozen books, notably Evening Ragas documenting a changing India from 1976-1992, The Dream Come True (Great Houses of Los Angeles), The Englishman’s Room, Inside the House of Lords, Rooms, Notting Hill, In House and, most recently, Great Gardens of Italy with Monty Don.
Moore’s photographs are in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, The National Portrait Gallery, London, The Royal Collection and the Bibliotheque Nationale, as well as numerous private collections.
