Bhanu Shah began his artistic career in 1965 at the M S University of Baroda. Shah was one of the founding members of the Progressive Painters’ Group in Ahmedabad. Working in a multitude of different mediums, Shah initially created landscape paintings before moving on to depict more abstract scenes. Inspired by Hindustani classical music, especially that of Ajay Chakrabarty, Shah created paintings influenced by the ragas.
