Born in Indore in 1972, Avadhesh Yadav is best known for his abstract art, which won him the prestigious Raza Foundation Award in 2007. The artist completed his Master’s degree in Fine Arts from the Government Institute of Fine Arts, Indore, in 1998, and has since exhibited widely in India and abroad.
Yadav’s works are unique in that they balance the subtlety of colours with delicate, minimal forms, which many viewers find therapeutic. His use of these forms and his light application of colour evoke a distinctive sense of tranquility and spirituality in the viewer.
Before his graduation, Yadav exhibited regularly at Devlalikar Kala Vithika, Indore, and soon after, his works were represented in several other group exhibitions in India and abroad, including those organized by the Jim Beard Foundation (Holland) at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, in 2003; the Lionel Wendt Art Gallery, Colombo, in 2002; and the National Gallery of Modern Art, Mumbai, in 2001. He has also had three solo exhibitions in Bhopal, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.
The artist lives and works in New Delhi.
