SAFFRONART IN THE NEWS

26th January, 2012

Just in time for the India Art Fair, online auction house Saffronart is previewing its inaugural Impressionist and modern auction in New Delhi. For the first time in India, the work of Western masters is being displayed alongside that of Indian stalwarts such as M.F. Hussain. Vincent Van Gogh’s 1885 landscape “L’Allée aux Deux Promeneurs,” which the auction house estimates could bring up to $1 million, and Pablo Picasso’s “Le Transformateur” (1953) will go under the hammer on February 15-16.

“Indian collectors don’t necessarily have access to this sort of work but they have grown up with these big names,” Saffronart’s Abha Housego told AFP. The auction will also include work by Marc Chagall and Henry Moore.
