Born in 1970, Ram Singh Urveti is a Gond artist by profession. Related by marriage to the well-known Gond artist Jangarh Singh Shyam, Urveti spent five years living with him in Bhopal and learning the nuances of this style of painting. One of the recurring themes in his paintings is that of the tree. Combining traditional folklore and mythology with the symbolic icon of the tree, here a peacock-like bird and tree merge into a beautiful unified motif.
