Quick Zoom

Circa 1930s
Vegetable/natural dye
Approx. 7ft x 4ft 10in ( 213.4 x 147.3 cms)

This carpet woven in Afshar South west of Iran is an example of the striking use of color and simplicity of geometric patterns.
The midnight blue holds a vermillion hexagon, within which are two white diamond shapes. The paisley boteh evident in the blue and vermillion act as the unifying element.
This shows the skill with which the tribal weaver would manipulate a limited repertoire of form and color. The central medallion has angular geometric motifs.

Please note that there will be import restrictions on this Lot in the USA, UK, and Brazil. Potential Buyers are advised to check import regulations to their country prior to making a bid decision.
